AI has arrived. We didn't ask for it, but it came anyway. So what does and doesn't change in our new age? What can millennia of technological change teach us about what remains constant? And what new opportunities do we have as educators and learners, especially as AI continues to develop? These questions pose new challenges for schools: what do we need to do to meet the moment, tomorrow and in the years to come? Join for an address that grounds our AI moment in longstanding educational values and proven pedagogical principles.
AI is pulling us ever further into technologically mediated experiences, yet the most powerful learning remains a social, human-to-human experience. Schools must travel in both directions at once: protecting the relational experiences they are known for while preparing students for a technologically inundated world. Participants leave with a working map of AI's strengths and limits, a deeper understanding of uniquely human knowledge work, and a protocol for reconciling technological and human modes of learning.
